Hello everyone and welcome newcomers,

Are you a beginner who is looking for an in-depth explanation and understanding of what Kratom is? And why is it that so many people are beginning to take notice of what this special plant can do?

Everything in our guide is solely based on our personal experience and what we have used the plant for in order to benefit us in our daily lives.

We have made our Beginner Kratom guide a lot more organized and easier to read.

The guide is now separated into six parts so that you can navigate to whichever part you desire. Each part will be geared towards that one specific topic only, so there is no need for endless mouse scrolling. 🙂

We’re hoping that this will help you learn more about Kratom at your own pace.

We also have a blog page where we discuss some minor details and will go further into specific topics. Also, check out the Kratom Capsule Guide we have once you understand and have some experience with Kratom.

Right Down below you can click on any part and it will direct you to the page.

The discussion of the six parts will be:

Part I:  What is Kratom?

Part II:  How to Take Kratom

Part III:  What Is Kratom Used For?

Part IV:  Kratom Side Effects and How to Beat It

Part V:  Kratom Tolerance

Part VI:  Quality of Kratom, Vendors, and Where to Buy Kratom

I’ve heard or read that the more Kratom (any strain) you take the more sedating it is and the less you take the more energizing. Any truth to this? Thanks!

    • Chihao Nguyen January 7, 2016, 12:01 am

Yes, quite true. If you’ve ever took it slightly over your “sweet spot” dosage, it becomes more sedating, any more than that you will have other side effects such as nausea. You feel energize definitely, but there are some strains that are a lot more energizing than others which are determined by their speed. Maeng Da strains will definitely boost your energy far more than any other strains.

I’m on that happy hippo for the first time thanks to you guys. Hopefully this turn out good.

    • Ben Nguyen January 10, 2016, 2:32 am

Haha let us know how it goes for you man. Try it at 2 grams and up from there if you don’t feel anything after 15-20 minutes. 🙂

  • HUNG January 10, 2016, 2:46 am

First time and 20 minutes in with happy hippo.

    • Ben Nguyen January 10, 2016, 2:47 am

      Which Strain did you get?

      • HUNG January 10, 2016, 2:50 am

Not sure… I used the site y’all recommended.

        • Ben Nguyen January 10, 2016, 2:52 am

Ah okay, there should be a name on the bag. It’s good to know so you can rotate the strains and not build up a high tolerance to Kratom.

          • HUNG January 10, 2016, 2:54 am

Yeah, so far it feels relaxing. I didn’t have a scale so I winged it with a butter knife. Thanks for the vids though it helps.

  • Jose January 25, 2016, 6:10 am

Hey quick question how does white Borneo compare to green maeng da ? Experience wise. And I believe I tried happy hippo purchasing but my card wouldn’t process because security reasons? Kinda spooked me off.

    • Ben Nguyen January 25, 2016, 2:37 pm

      Hey Jose,

White Borneo is a little more on the medium fast where you’ll feel pretty chill and a bit of a boost in energy to get your day going, Similar to a cup of coffee. Green Maeng Da will give you a lot of energy and positive drive to get things done or feel really calm and super social. I think Green Maeng Da is my most favorite out of the two.

Haha, the credit card thing spooked me the first time too, but I found out they’re using a foreign card processor so, you’ll have to go to your bank and tell them to allow Happy Hippo Herbals instead of blocking it.

I use Dwolla now cause of the 10% discount, and it goes through instantly.

Hope this helped you out brotha.

      Have a good one,

Great article for people really looking to get the 101 on kratom. I especially liked the “kratom for different situations” write up. I also rotate bags regularly to avoid building too much of a tolerance. Thanks guys

  • H November 4, 2017, 11:15 am

Great insight and breakdown in kratom, I took some indo kratom and think I took too much and was knocked out for a day, kinda put me off it and today I took small amount and read up on your page, hopefully all goes well and helps me stop the pain in my ankle… and gives me a uplift too…
