Theres a new trend going around for making coffee called cold brewing. For those who don’t know about cold brewing, it is a method that requires you to mix the dry ingredient with water and leave it overnight in the refrigerator so it can soak in the properties of the ingredient.

Why is cold brewing Kratom a good method?

1 – Instead of cooking the kratom in water which will turn out to be a very bitter drink, when you cold brew it, the bitterness is a lot less.

2 – It doesn’t destroy the mitragynine & 7-hydroxymitragynine alkaloids (which gives kratom it’s effect) which is affected by heat.

3 – It’s low maintenance and simple to make.

4 – The effects will hit very fast. (3 – 8 mins)

1 – Your only able to cold brew one drink and you can’t reuse the kratom to brew another.

2 – It takes a long time to make.

3 – The effects are short lived.

If you want to give it a try heres the directions and materials for cold brewing Kratom.

Tools and Ingredients –

  • Water
  • 2 clear container with a cap/lid
  • funnel
  • filter
  • spoon

Step 1 – Add the amount of kratom that gives you the aroma (mine is 3 g) into the container. You can make this easier without any kratom spillage by using a funnel. If the kratom is stuck in the funnel just use a spoon and push it all down.

Step 2 – Add water to the container and close the cap/lid. Then shake it up a bit until the water is completely green and there is no dry kratom in the container. Check all sides of the container for dry parts.

Step 3 – throw it in the fridge and no don’t literally throw it in the fridge. Leave it in the fridge to 8 – 12 hours.

Alternate Step 3 – leave it in room temperature for 8 -12 hours. (The effects are stronger, but the downside is the taste will also be stronger.

Step 4 – Once it’s been in the fridge for 8 – 12 hours, it’s now time to filter the kratom. Take the second container and put a funnel over it. Then put the filter on the funnel and slowly pour the kratom drink in the funnel. Don’t rush this part because it may cause the filter (if its paper) to rip and you’ll have to restart the filtering process.  You might need to use more then 1 filter.

Extra Step – Every now and then, shake the bottle to help extract more alkaloids from the kratom.

There you have it. Enjoy the drink.

Through my experiences, you won’t be able to reuse the kratom if you have already used it once to cold brew. I have experimented with it by consuming the same powder used to cold brew before drinking the tea and I didn’t feel any effect. That says a lot about this method. It will extract almost all of the mitragynine alkaloids so you won’t have to worry about not getting the most out of your kratom if you try this.

Do the mixing at night so you can filter it in the morning.

It’s okay to leave it longer then 12 hours.

It’s not okay to leave it less then 8 hours.

    I love cold-brewed Kratom tea.
I used to have to cover the taste with lots of Honey because of the extreme bitterness. I use distilled water to make my cold-brewed with my own home distiller I find it it extracted wonderfully after 12 hours.
I use a total of 20 to 30 Grams of Kratom tea leaves, I never used the powder I do not like it because it gives a muddy and gritty texture. I also use a special press that uses 2000 pounds of force on the remaining leaves to get every drop out of the Leafs. Hopefully this will help you enjoy Kratom as much as I do. thank you for your wonderful posts.
